Rita used to have a very cute nickname for Rafi – let’s call it “Ra-el” (for Raphael, though none of these are their real names). One of their little friends started calling him “Fa-el,” and her mother didn’t like that, so she repeated corrected her daughter in front of my kids, so she’d say “Rafi” (the standard nickname). Guess who started calling her brother Rafi? My husband and I are so very sad about it (though I suppose there are worse things in the world).
I know it’s a good thing, but it’s so sad when they stop saying words in the cute, wrong way. My little one used to say wubberwhy for butterfly. I LOVED it! But now she says butterfly. I miss wubberwhy.
