Our four year old computer is having problems connecting to the Internet. Taxman is at the dentist so I am using his computer. I should be working on a freelance assignment I meant to finish last weekend, but see aforementioned computer problem. This is my excuse if I have not been around as usual.
But this week has been fabulous, mostly because Miss M is having a super fantastic time at camp. From last year’s camp disaster to lots of rough emotional stuff at school this year, it is such a relief to drop her off in the morning and have her immediately engaged and sending me off with a casual wave as she starts coloring or playing with blocks. It’s not fancy, but there is such love in this place.
Love is the one thing–everything!–that was missing at school. So much so that when I picked her up from camp the first day, the teacher in charge of her “bunk” handed her over and said, “She had an amazing first day. She’s such a pleasure,” I almost started to cry. The counselors took pictures that day and made an Internet album–there is one of Miss M that, I promise you, could be a Kodak ad because she looks so joyful, her hands over her mouth in a gesture of happy surprise.
Every day since has been a good report. I wish it were summer all year long.
I was without “connectivity” (cable tv, internet, VOIP) for a day and a half. Can I just say–URG!
Moreover, I had a terrible sinus headache for about three days.
But I am still here, just now trying to get us ready to skeddadle slightly south for our day o’thanks with my relatives. I’m looking forward to seeing the family, but will be vaguely relieved when it’s all over.
Happy Turkey/Salmon/Tofurky/Pumpkin Pie Day! (And happy Thursday for the Canadians!)
Our (relatively speaking) new laptop battery holds a charge for less than 30 minutes.
This, my friends, is not enough time to get myself into gear for quality blogging.
I can–and do, often–surf while standing in the kitchen, when I should be tending to the dishes or the children’s food or some such.
But for writing, I like to park myself on the couch, proverbially crack my knuckles, and think and write and all that jazz.
So the less than 30 minutes, it’s Teh Sucky.
Until we find out if our Ebay seller is worth his salt and is willing to exchange, hope you all are having a decent Monday.
- To 3daughters, in case my email was spammed: b”H, good. Extraordinary sleeper.
- To NSLS: See here. Debacle still in progress. September 24th? October 8? Um, yeah.
- To everyone:
- Computer was whacked out yesterday. (Taxman seems to have fixed it.)
- Miss M once again thinks that 5:30 is an acceptable time to start the day. Sweetie, just because you have to pee does NOT mean that it’s time for breakfast.
- But AM seems to be ok with going back to his own bed after his middle of the night nursing. Which is good. The fact that I cannot seem to get him to STOP the middle of the night nursing, well, that’s not so good. If it’s only comfort nursing it’s taking an awfully long time (15 minutes). Sigh.
- I am trying to figure out if I am brave enough to take both kids to the zoo by myself. We spent a wonderful day at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk last month–but the aquarium is much more self contained. Plus far enough away that everyone slept on the way home.
- Sleeping. Still, not so much.
The Blogger/WordPress debate has been settled by my complete and utter ineptitude in all things computer. (Particularly, it seems, so-called push-button publishing. Yes, push a button, lose everything you’ve done.)
My little brother could probably help me, but he’s busy being an engineering major and long-distance boyfriend, so I’ll leave him alone.
In any event, welcome to my new pad. Hot water’s up; I’m taking tea orders.
Possessed by idiocy, I switched to Google instead of using the old-fashioned Blogger.
So far, it’s taken about 12 tries to fix my profile and my new post got eaten.
Crap.
I want to go back, but I can’t.
ACK!
